Office
The Bogart office. When his character could afford it, that is (Rick for sure, others not so much). Just add a ceiling fan, a Fedora, and, of course, a pack of smokes.
Beautiful fir French doors open onto this small period home office. The beamed wood ceiling in pine and fir and the carefully crafted wood window trim add to the retro feel of this cozy space.
And then there's the painstakingly painted embossed wallpaper, a la old-fashioned Lincrusta and Anaglypta. Much more interesting than your ordinary, run-of-the-mill, two-dimensional wallpaper, the embossing adds both texture and interest.
But the main theme of this room is clearly the wood. And not just any wood either—this room is done in warm, wonderful, naturally finished fir, our very favorite.
From the beamed ceiling and classic window trim to the wood wainscoting and antique flooring, this retro home office is more romantic than an old movie set.
And a little closer look at the floor reveals yet another interesting detail adding yet more character and charm to the room. Also in reclaimed antique fir, a center diamond inlay and, in each corner, an inlaid triangle, too. It's nice to know that craftsmanship hasn't completely vanished from the planet.
