Vintage farmhouse

Typically our focus is on building new "old" houses but occasionally we tackle a minor restoration of a vintage home. Once in a very blue moon, however, we stumble upon a historic case gone to the weeds, one in dire need of rescue, restoration, and remodel on an epic scale. This old gal was one such case.
This house really is an old house, a farmhouse circa 1900. Over the years, however, it had been gutted and badly remodeled numerous times so that virtually no original interior details remained.
Our challenge was to recreate, as authentically as possible, what this old house may once have looked like.
And then we had a different idea and decided to up the ante.
Rather than just recreate an old farmhouse, we opted instead to reinvent it as if it had actually been a somewhat more upscale city home and give it the extra flourishes and detail it undoubtedly lacked in its more pedestrian original version back on the farm. So, armed with all the care, creativity, and craftsmanship we could muster, we set off on a journey of monumental proportions.
We invite you to browse the photos here and judge for yourself whether or not we hit just the right old-house mark.
